Putting PostgreSQL Query Metrics to Work

Tuesday, September 08 at 12:10–13:00
Portland Intermediate

Understanding what kind of query metrics are available in PostgreSQL is an important first step to dealing with performance issues on your databases. It's not enough to know that a given query may be performing slowly. You need to know why. This session will explore how you pull information out of PostgreSQL using the Cumulative Statistics System, pg_stats_statements extension and explain plans. Further, we'll show how we put these tools to work with Redgate Monitor to give you an enhanced view into the performance of your PostgreSQL databases and queries. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of how to monitor query behavior in your own systems.
